Canberra has hosted some amazing food festivals in recent years but we are in for a treat with the launch of a massive 10 day street food festival down at Commonwealth Park.

The Commons Street Feast is every Canberran foodie’s dream featuring a long list of food and drink vendors and a tonne of entertainment events. The festival will run from 9 -18 December so there is plenty of time to head down there and spend an afternoon or evening feasting and enjoying the beautiful summer weather.

If you are feeling overwhelmed with the amount of choice one vendor you definitely can’t go past is Sydney’s Bao Stop. Their Taiwanese and Chinese Street style dishes were a highlight at the Night Noodle Markets earlier this year and they will be serving up some of their delicious and highly instagrammable favourites for the duration of The Commons festival.

It’s hard not to fall in love with their delicious savoury Asian Gua Bao street treats. If you aren’t familiar with bao they are a homemade light and fluffy bun folded to hold an amazing filling of meat, fresh herbs and vegetables and a delicious sauce. Bao Stop’s choice of fillings include fried chicken, braised pork belly and Peking duck but if you are as indecisive as me and can’t make up your mind about which filling to choose Bao Stop are also offering a Trifecta of baos so you can get a taste of each one.

Bao Stop are also offering their star Peking Duck Fries which are one of the most unique and must-try dishes of the festival. The Peking Duck Fries were a massive hit at the Night Noodle Markets and for very good reason! Who could go past a dish of crispy, golden fries topped with mouthwatering shredded duck and a generous smother of Peking sauce? Although it might sound too good to share, the generous size makes this a perfect share dish to enjoy with friends.

Bao Stop will be at The Commons Street Feast serving up their delicious food for the next 10 days. Make sure you head on down there, meet their friendly staff and try out their amazing food while they are here in Canberra.
